A member of the esteemed HARDY
family, 15-year-old spitfire Elizabeth Webber burst into Port
Charles as a mischievous teenager, sent to live with grandmother
Audrey Hardy and sister Sarah Webber after their parents left for a
foreign medical mission. Her already rocky relationship with sister
Sarah was compounded by the fact that the object of Elizabeth's
affections - Lucky Spencer - had feelings for Sarah. Elizabeth
schemed to turn Lucky's head her way by making Sarah look bad, even
attempting to frame her for cheating by stealing test answers and
planting them in her bag.
But everything changed for the young teen on the night of Port
Charles High's Valentine's Day dance. While in the park, Elizabeth
was attacked and raped. Lucky came across her and immediately took
it upon himself to take care of her. He became a pillar of support
for Elizabeth, helping her recover both mentally and physically. All
the while, Lucky and Elizabeth were falling in love.
Meanwhile, friend Emily Quartermaine began being blackmailed with
altered photos in which Emily appeared nude. Together with Lucky's
estranged half-brother Nikolas, Emily, Lucky and Elizabeth worked to
find the culprit. Elizabeth and Emily found themselves in danger
when the blackmailer was believed to be a photographer named Tom.
While being held at gunpoint in Tom's photography studio darkroom,
Elizabeth and Emily learned another disturbing secret - Tom was also
Elizabeth's rapist. Lucky and Nikolas, who had finally reconciled,
were able to locate Elizabeth and Emily, saving them from Tom and
getting him arrested. The quartet's harrowing experience cemented
their lifelong friendship and the Four Musketeers was born.
As their high school days were coming to an end, Lucky and Elizabeth
prepared for a future together, planning to move to New York City
where Elizabeth could go to art school. Lucky surprised Elizabeth
with a dress and another surprise, as he took Elizabeth too a
romantic chapel where they vowed to love each other forever.
However, fate, in the form of Helena Cassadine and Cesar Faison,
would interfere. Staging a fire in Lucky's apartment, Helena whisked
the young man off to a remote cabin where she kept him captive.
Those in Port Charles believed Lucky had died, leaving behind a
devastated family and his young love Elizabeth.
Emily and Nikolas did their best to comfort their friend, but
Elizabeth was so distraught and uncertain to how she would be able
to go on without Lucky. All their plans, all her plans, went up in
smoke the day he died and Elizabeth found herself lost.
Elizabeth grew very protective of both Emily and Nikolas. When
Nikolas announced he was planning to marry Katherine Bell, a woman
Elizabeth disliked greatly, she dolled herself up and essentially
went to Jake's Bar looking for trouble. And trouble she found...A
male patron took a liking to her and wouldn't take no for an answer.
Jason Morgan, Emily's brother, came to her aid, rescuing Elizabeth
before the man could rape her. Elizabeth poured out all her troubles
to Jason as he did the same with her.
Danger came knocking when Jason was shot by mob boss Moreno.
Elizabeth rushed to Jason's aid, taking him to her studio. While
Jason refused to let her contact the police or boss Sonny Corinthos,
Elizabeth went behind his back, enlisting Lucky's aunt Bobbie for
help to treat Jason. Elizabeth managed to convince Jason to stay at
her studio until he was fully recovered. Spending much time
together, Jason and Elizabeth became very close friends. But that
friendship would put Elizabeth in danger herself. Mob boss Sorel
placed a bomb in Elizabeth's studio. Jason saved Elizabeth, but came
to the realization that he was putting her in danger because of
their relationship. To keep her from harm's way, Jason left Port
Charles, but not before taking Elizabeth on a bike ride.
Elizabeth finally felt as though she had come to terms with losing
Lucky. Meanwhile, Nikolas found evidence that Lucky was, in fact,
alive. After shocking Elizabeth with this information, the pair
traveled to New York City in search of Lucky. They weren't able to
find him, but Lucky saw them. A short time later, Lucky returned to
Port Charles and came face-to-face with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was ecstatic at Lucky being alive, but Lucky did not share
the sentiment. Something had happened to Lucky during his captivity
- he was very different. Every time Elizabeth tried to reach out to
him, he would push her away, saying things had changed. Elizabeth
was confused by his coldish behavior towards her, but she knew, in
her heart, that Lucky loved her and time would help them reconnect.
It seemed that things were looking up for the couple, but then
suddenly he pushed her away again. Things became even odder when
Lucky began trying to push Elizabeth and Nikolas together.
Another blackmailing attempt on Emily reunited the Four Musketeers,
both physically and mentally, as Lucky and Elizabeth were able to
reconnect more. However, Lucky still kept pushing Elizabeth away.
Soon, Lucky began to realize something was wrong with him. Elizabeth
stumbled upon Helena using a trigger phrase to control Lucky and
realized that Helena had brainwashed Lucky. Soon, Lucky began to
seek treatment under Dr. Kevin Collins, to help him get out from
Helena's control.
Thinking he was free from Helena's mind-control, Lucky and Elizabeth
reunited. However, the damage Helena had done proved to be too much
for the young couple to overcome. Helena had managed to brainwash
Lucky into forgetting his love for Elizabeth. The pair tried, but
could not recapture their love. Elizabeth's newly returned sister
Sarah caught Lucky's eye and they began an affair. In the midst of
this, Elizabeth and Gia were involved in a car accident. Nikolas
tried to hide the fact that Gia was at fault, but Lucky found out.
But instead of telling Elizabeth, he kept it from her. However,
Elizabeth found out and she severed her friendship with Nikolas and
Gia and broke up with Lucky.
Meanwhile, Maxie Jones had developed a crush on Lucky. He tried to
let her down gently, but she was devastated. To back at Lucky for
hurting her, Maxie told Elizabeth she had seen Lucky and Sarah go to
his room. Elizabeth found them and felt shocked and betrayed,
splintering further her relationship with Lucky.
Newly returned Jason Morgan provided Elizabeth some comfort upon the
demise of her and Lucky's relationship. However, Jason's dangerous
life and closeness to Sonny's sister Courtney and Elizabeth's affair
with Zander Smith doomed a potential romantic pairing and strained
their friendship.
While attempting to get over Jason, Elizabeth met Ric Lansing, a
newcomer who was living at Kelly's. They began dating and eventually
fell in love. However, Ric was harboring a big secret - he was Sonny
Corinthos' half-brother and was determined to get revenge on Sonny
causing him to grow up without his mother.
Elizabeth learned she was pregnant, and searching her heart, forgave
Ric for keeping his true identity a secret from her. The couple
married and prepared for life as new parents. Unfortunately, Ric's
ex Faith Rosco, a mob widow, still had her sights set on Ric and in
an attempt to frame her enemy Sonny Corinthos, Faith pushed
Elizabeth down a flight of stairs. The trauma caused Elizabeth to
miscarry, but, while devastated, Elizabeth knew that she wanted to
have child.
To help Elizabeth recover from the miscarriage and to raise her
spirits, Ric surprised Elizabeth with a house of their own.
Unfortunately, Ric failed to mention that the house had a panic room
in it. Believing Sonny had been responsible for Elizabeth's
miscarriage, Ric had concocted a nefarious plot to kidnap Sonny's
pregnant wife Carly, hide her in the panic room and steal Sonny and
Carly's child when it was born. Elizabeth's desire to get pregnant
again threatened his plan so he began slipping birth control pills
into her food and drinks and even bribed a fertility specialist to
tell Elizabeth she could not conceive a child. All this was to
convince Elizabeth to consider adopting a child.
Ric placed his plan into motion, kidnapping Carly from Jason and
Courtney's wedding and trapping her in the panic room. Oblivious to
what was happening, Elizabeth went about her life even surviving an
attempt on her life by Faith, who poisoned her lemonade. One day,
while she was cleaning, Elizabeth happened upon a button in the
bookshelf. Curious, she pressed it and to her shock the door to a
secret room opened. Carly threw herself at Elizabeth, begging to be
released and telling Elizabeth each and every detail of Ric's plan.
Partly from shock and partly from an embolism caused by Ric's
mismanagement of the birth control pills, Elizabeth collapsed. Help
arrived and Elizabeth survived the ordeal, but she was devastated to
learn of her husband's duplicity and turned him over to the police.
Luckily for Ric, Carly was no longer at the Lansing's home. She had
been set free by Lorenzo Alcazar, who promptly kidnapped her for
himself. Hoping to make things right, Ric offered his help to Sonny
and Jason to help find Carly. Elizabeth worried about him, but
realized that she could not spend her life with someone who could do
what Ric had done to Carly. Elizabeth and Ric separated.
Elizabeth's life was temporarily derailed after she was hit by a
car, resulting in temporary blindness. Still in love with his wife,
Ric tried desperately to help her, but Elizabeth kept pushing him
away. She eventually regained her sight, but found herself still
drawn to Ric. Unsettled, Elizabeth again turned to Zander.
When Elizabeth found out she was pregnant, her and Ric reconciled
and remarried. Elizabeth was stunned to discover that Zander, not
Ric, was the father of her child. Panicking, Elizabeth tried to hide
the information. Ric found out, confronting Elizabeth, but
surprising her by saying that he still wanted to be with her and he
wanted to be a father to the child. In order for Ric to adopt the
child, however, Zander had to give up his parental rights. Zander
refused and attempted to blackmail Ric into framing Nikolas, who was
having an affair with Zander's wife Emily, for murder.
The disastrous Port Charles fire became the scene of numerous
confrontations with Zander by numerous people, among them Ric,
Elizabeth and Nikolas. A corpse found in the basement of the hotel
was believed to be Zander's when Maxie came forward to reveal that
Zander had been hiding out in the basement. Ric, Elizabeth, Nikolas
and Emily all began receiving posthumous letters from Zander blaming
their respective significant other's for his murder. Ric, Nikolas
and Emily admitted to having confrontations with Zander prior to his
death as suspicion fell on them. Elizabeth then admitted to Ric that
she had fought with Zander and had knocked him out with a pipe prior
to the fire, causing him to die when the fire engulfed the building.
Ric refused to let Elizabeth take the fall and promptly helped her
cover up her role in Zander's death.
All were surprised when Zander turned up alive. Still in love with
his wife, Zander kidnapped Emily. Elizabeth, fearing for her best
friend's life, called the police leading to a standoff. Having
decided to release Emily, Zander essentially tricked the police into
shooting him by feigning a threat on Emily's life. Zander died from
the wounds, leaving Elizabeth and Ric to raise their child.
Ric and Elizabeth tried to make it work, but Ric could not let go of
his vendetta against Sonny. Frustrated, Elizabeth left Ric and also
left town. Later, Elizabeth's grandmother Audrey informed Ric that
Elizabeth had given birth to a baby boy.
Elizabeth returned to town with her son whom she had named Cameron,
after Zander's father Cameron Lewis, who had died in the Port
Charles Hotel fire. Elizabeth and Ric came face-to-face, but
Elizabeth soon realized that Ric had fallen for fellow attorney
Alexis Davis.
Elizabeth turned her attention to helping best friend Emily cope
with an odd situation with Nikolas. He had gotten into a car
accident after learning that Emily had been kidnapped by Zander. The
accident had left him without his memory, but those in Port Charles
had believed he had perished when his car was found in the river.
Discovering Nikolas was alive, Emily attempted to make him fall in
love with her again. Complicating matters, however, was the fact
that Nikolas believed himself to be a happily married Connor Bishop.
Nikolas eventually regained his memory and returned to Emily and the
Four Musketeers were again reunited. However, Connor's widow Mary,
who had fallen for Nikolas, went crazy and attempted to kill Emily.
She ended up killing Lorenzo Alcazar's niece Sage. Nikolas
eventually was forced to shoot her to save Emily and she later died
at General Hospital.
Nikolas and Emily got engaged, infuriating his psycho grandmother
Helena. She placed a curse on them and tried to stop the wedding with the help of Tracy Quartermaine. In a struggle, Nikolas killed Helena. But there was a
witness - the real Connor Bishop. Connor had returned to PortCharles
to reunite with his wife, but found she had died because of Nikolas
and Emily. Connor began to stalk Emily and attempted to blackmail
Nikolas with his knowledge of Helena's murder, but Nikolas turned
himself in and was sent to prison. Lucky and Elizabeth attempted to
help Nikolas and Emily survive this ordeal. While helping with
Nikolas and Emily's wedding, Elizabeth admitted to Emily that she
still had feelings for Lucky, who had meanwhile, been falling back
in love with Elizabeth. The pair began to reconnect at Nikolas and
Emily's wedding where they were Best Man and Maid of Honor,
respectively. But both decided to take it slow.
Lucky and Elizabeth continued to help Emily with trying to get
Nikolas out of prison. The trio tried to swap a newly returned, and
seemingly contrite Connor for Nikolas. However, the plan didn't
work. Having happened upon information that Helena might actually be
alive, Luke came up with a plan to flush Helena out, using Connor
and Emily as bait, with Connor pretending to be Nikolas. A wary
Nikolas reluctantly agreed to the plan so long as Lucky and
Elizabeth were there to help out.
When the plan went wrong, Emily was rushed off to a safe house with
Connor. One night, after Lucky and Elizabeth had left, Connor got drunk and raped Emily. Emily stabbed him with
garden shears and when he tried to attack her again, she shot him.
Lucky and Elizabeth arrived to find Connor dead. Lucky buried Connor
while Elizabeth dealt with a very distraught Emily. Elizabeth
suspected Connor raped Emily, but Emily was in complete denial.
Helena managed to kidnap Emily, locking her in the Cassadine crypt.
Lucky was able to find her, but was shot by Helena when he attempted
to rescue Emily. Lucky was rushed to the hospital in a coma. Elizabeth
stayed at Lucky's bedside as he slipped further and further into a
coma. Luke had a difficult time seeing his son in a coma and took it
upon himself to pull the plug. Fortunately, Skye showed up in time
to turn the machines back on. A legal battle ensued and Luke was
forced to stay away from Lucky. Luke snuck back in and pulled the
plug again. This time when Skye showed up, Lucky was breathing on
his own.
After a near-death experience in which Elizabeth was the only one to
keep him front "walking to the light,"
Lucky woke up from his coma and started his recovery. Lucky told
Elizabeth that he figured out Emily was raped. Lucky agreed to stay
at Wyndemere with Emily during his recovery. Both he and Elizabeth
thought it would be good for him to be there so he could help Emily
deal with her traumas. Lucky and Elizabeth were worried about Emily
and continued to rally her to not give up on Nikolas. They were
shocked to discover Emily's divorce papers. When they confronted her
with them, Emily told them her marriage was over.
Confused by Emily's recent behavior, Nikolas asked to see Elizabeth.
A jittery
Elizabeth went to see Nikolas in prison. Putting two and two
together, Nikolas deduced from Emily's behavior and Elizabeth's
demeanor that Connor had raped Emily, Nikolas was devastated but
vowed to himself to help his wife. When Emily told Nikolas she wanted a divorce, he revealed he knew what had happened.
Emily assumed Elizabeth had betrayed her trust and lashed out at
her. Elizabeth assured her she didn't reveal her secret and that
Nikolas probably figured it out on his own.
Helena was eventually captured and Nikolas was released from prison.
Lucky and Elizabeth tried to help them as much as they could, but
Nikolas and Emily were at an impasse. Elizabeth really felt
therapy would help Emily deal with the rape. Elizabeth explained
that when she confronted her rapist, she really started healing. She
suggested Emily do the same thing. Since Connor was dead, Nikolas
volunteered. Nikolas didn't feel the session went well, but Emily
felt she was really making progress.
As Nikolas and Emily continued to work through their problems, good
things were starting to happen for Lucky and Elizabeth. Lucky was
officially reinstated to PCPD, and asked Elizabeth and Baby Cam to
move in with him. Things were going well for them until the reality
of bills started to hit them. Lucky had a lot of medical bills from
the shooting and they were in dire need of money. While working her
shift at General Hospital,
Elizabeth heard from Dr. Meadows about Jax and Courtney's need for a
gestational host. Elizabeth paid Jax a visit and offered herself as
the host. But after to talking to Lucky, Elizabeth decided against
it. However, Elizabeth was moved by Jax and Courtney's plight, and
eventually agreed.
The decision brought Jax into Lucky and Elizabeth's life as a
prominent figure. Lucky became very jealous as Jax continued to
insinuate himself into their lives by fawning over Elizabeth and
buying extravagant gifts for Cameron. Lucky became very angry and
him and Elizabeth tried to deal with the issues they were having as
a result of the surrogacy, but things were about to boil over. Lucky and Elizabeth attended Carly's fundraiser with
Nikolas and Emily. Lucky saw Jax's monetary donation to GH as his
way of flaunting his money and power. Lucky didn't want to be there
and left. He quickly returned to the party and told everyone the
roads were closed due to the coming hurricane.
As the hurricane approached, the house had to be secured. Nikolas
and
Lucky were taping up the windows when Jax and Lucky got into another
fight about the surrogacy. Lucky punched Jax. Jax refused to fight
back and even offered to cancel the arrangement. Elizabeth
considered the offer but wondered if she was already pregnant. She
made it clear that if she was pregnant, she would not abort the
child. Lucky admitted to Elizabeth that his pride got in the way
again and he was sorry. Lucky proposed to Elizabeth who happily
accepted.
Soon after Courtney arrived, Lucky and Elizabeth announced their
engagement. Courtney sensed immediately that Jax wasn't happy. Jax
admitted that the impending marriage would cause problems with the
legality of the surrogacy. Jax approached Elizabeth and suggested
they postpone the wedding till after the baby was born.
When Elizabeth suggested postponing the wedding due to Jax's
worries, Lucky got upset and rescinded his proposal. Elizabeth
turned around and proposed to Lucky. Lucky saved Elizabeth from a
tree that crashed through the window. After Lucky accepted
Elizabeth's proposal, Elizabeth was hit with a dizzy spell.
Elizabeth found out she was pregnant. Elizabeth and Lucky decided
they should get married immediately. They were at the courthouse
when Jax interrupted the ceremony. Lucky agreed to postpone the
wedding, but later, he and Elizabeth exchanged vows in the park. He
believed they were married in their hearts.
Courtney and Jax were planning the nursery set up when Elizabeth
stopped by. Elizabeth started giving her opinion so Courtney split.
Elizabeth received a call about Lucky's shooting and fainted. When
Lucky arrived to pick Elizabeth up, Jax and Lucky got into a fight
over his job and how it would affect Elizabeth. Elizabeth defended
Lucky but later admitted to Lucky that she worried about his job
After another particularly hard day at work, Lucky was surprised to
see Jax with Elizabeth in what appeared to be a compromising
situation. Jax made his exit as Lucky announced that he thought it
would be best if he moved out until the baby was born because he was
causing Elizabeth too much stress. Elizabeth was
beside herself and fell asleep upset. She had forgotten to
extinguish the candles she had set for her romantic dinner with
Lucky. She woke up to an apartment full of smoke. The smoke
overwhelmed her but she was able to grab Cameron and got out safely. Jax took her to General Hospital to make sure she was okay.
When Lucky, Nikolas, and Courtney heard about the fire, they rushed
over to the hospital where Jax and Lucky continued to butt heads.
Jax and Courtney opened their home to Elizabeth and
Cameron. Elizabeth and Courtney had a very honest discussion about
the baby. Elizabeth told Lucky that she was living with Jax and
Courtney until the baby was born. Elizabeth had a nightmare about
giving up the baby but covered with Jax and Courtney. She decided
she needed some ice cream and went over to Kelly's. She ran into
Lucky and decided to hang out in his apartment upstairs. They talked
about their future together as they fell asleep.
Elizabeth woke up and realized she never called Jax & Courtney to
let them know where she was. Lucky took her back to Jax and Courtney's
place where Jax made it clear how upset he was with Liz. Lucky stood
up for his woman. Courtney sided with Lucky and Elizabeth as well,
causing a huge argument.
Later, Elizabeth witnessed Courtney and Nikolas kiss at the docks.
Jax presented Lucky and Elizabeth their newly repaired apartment
before heading down to join Courtney in the Bahamas. While at work,
Elizabeth told Monica about the kiss she witnessed between Nikolas
and Courtney. Monica told Emily which led Emily to find out what was
really going on. Jax and Emily discovered Nikolas and Courtney in a
compromising position. Both Jax and Emily left the Bahamas
determined to end their marriages.
After the situation in the Bahamas between Courtney, Nikolas, Emily
& Jax, Jax fought with Lucky and Elizabeth over his intentions to
divorce Courtney and raise the child on his own. Lucky reminded
Elizabeth that if they were to get married before the child was
born, Lucky would be the baby's legal father. Jax attempted to bribe
Elizabeth into giving him custody of the child in exchange for
paying for all of Cameron's future educational costs. Annoyed, Elizabeth
turned him down.
Lucky and Elizabeth set up an intervention of sorts for Nikolas,
Emily, Courtney and Jax, but Elizabeth developed cramps. All rushed to the hospital where it
appeared people were trying to make their respective relationships
better. But things weren't going well at all. Lucky told Elizabeth
what he believed Jax was up to (using Courtney to get to the unborn
child). Elizabeth told Courtney Lucky's suspicions but Courtney
believed Jax was being completely sincere.
However, Courtney soon discovered that Lucky's claim was true and
Courtney ran off to be with Nikolas. Lucky and Elizabeth tried to be
there for Emily as her marriage to Nikolas imploded. Meanwhile,
Courtney and Jax bitterly fought and fought. Lucky and Elizabeth
were caught in the middle, but became increasingly incensed with
Jax's behavior and the situation.
Elizabeth and Jax eventually agreed to an acceptable custody
agreement. All seemed well. However, one night while Jax was driving
Elizabeth home, they were involved in a car accident when Jax
swerved to avoid hitting an unstable Carly. Elizabeth and Jax were
treated at the hospital and released. Not long after, Elizabeth
developed cramps and was rushed back to the hospital where Dr.
Meadows revealed that Elizabeth had miscarried the baby. Devastated,
Elizabeth retreated into herself. Both Lucky and Jax worked to raise
her spirits. Elizabeth began to heal and Lucky and Elizabeth began
plans for their wedding.
Meanwhile, even though they were divorcing, Emily and Nikolas worked
together to plan the wedding of Lucky and Elizabeth's dreams. The
night before their wedding, Lucky had a fight with his father and
uninvited him to the wedding. Elizabeth comforted Lucky and then
went separately home - Lucky to Kelly's and Elizabeth to their
apartment. On the day of the wedding, everything seemed to be going
wrong. Lucky's suit ripped and Elizabeth's dress didn't fit. Then
Nikolas and Emily surprised Lucky and Elizabeth with a fully-planned
wedding fit for a prince and princess. Before the wedding, Luke,
whom Nikolas had a paid a visit to earlier, and Lucky had a
father-and-son moment. Luke joined the other guests and the wedding
began as Lulu and Emily marched down the aisle ahead of Elizabeth.
Lucky and Elizabeth said their vows in front of their friends at
Wyndemere. Nikolas and Emily then surprised them with details of
their honeymoon which would start with a night at the Metro Court
and then a train ride to New York City where they would spend the
rest of their honeymoon.
The next morning, Lucky and Elizabeth boarded the train to New York
City. They were joined by Nikolas and Emily, along with Jax and a
pregnant Courtney. Lucky and Elizabeth were easily the happiest
people on the train. Also on the train were Sonny, Reese, Alexis and
Ric. Unbeknownst to them, mobster Manny Ruiz had a devastating plan
- he had rigged it so that the 6:00pm train from Port Charles would
collide with another train coming in from New York, a train on which
Robin, Sam, Max and Carly were on. The trains crashed in the
Glencove tunnel, trapping the passengers inside. Elizabeth
discovered that Lucky had been seriously injured. Lucky woke and
said his goodbyes to Elizabeth. Devastated, Elizabeth willed him to
live. As Lucky had a heart-stopping moment, the tunnel began to cave
in, covering the passengers...
